This benefit is called The City of Winnipeg Recreational Fee Subsidy Program!
What is it?
This fee subsidy program gives access to all City of Winnipeg gyms through a rechargeable 10-visit gym pass. Thus, once approved you can recharge this pass unlimited times until the year ends.
It includes:
- Facility passes for free admission to the City of Winnipeg’s recreation facilities swimming pools, gyms, and leisure centres.
- Program subsidies registered Leisure Guide activities including skating & swimming and drop-in active living programs, such as Zumba and Aquafit.
Who qualifies?
You must be a City of Winnipeg resident & one of the following must apply:
- Hold a social assistance case number.
- You are a new permanent resident or refugee who has been in Canada for less than 18 months and has not filed a tax return.
- Economic family income is below the low-income cut-offs.

Additional documentation may be required with your application, examples of documentation include:
- Social assistance (EIA) budget letter
- Documentation showing your landing date in Canada and UCI number
- The most recent Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment (most common) identifying the annual net income of all economic family members
- Monthly statement of income from CPP Disability (including the income verification of all economic family members)
Include only one with your application form.
Family members constitute husband, wife, and children. If you live in a residence with roommates, you are the only family member for this application.

And your Notice of Accessment can be accessed from your ‘CRA My Account’. Thus, if you want to apply now you would need to submit your 2023 Notice of Accessment with your application.
