What is the Neighbours Helping Neighbours program?

This program is a one-time grant of up to $400 to help with Hydro cost for individuals, families and seniors who are 60-90 days in arrears or have a final or disconnection notice.

This program may also apply to water utility in arrears, grant amount may be subject to number of individuals living in the residence.

Neighbours Helping Neighbours relies on private and corporate donations to fund its services.

Eligibility includes:

  • are not receiving social assistance;
  • are currently in 60 days arrears or greater;
  • have a final or disconnection notice;
  • have not previously received assistance from this program.

Proof of income will be assessed by providing bank statements for all individuals in the household for the current year.

To apply for assistance, you must meet with The Salvation Army, fill out an application, and provide proof of income.
